ABOUT

CareerVillage, a nonprofit focused on democratizing career advice, saw an opportunity to leverage AI and their existing resources to give nurses access to structured, adaptive career coaching.

Our team partnered with CareerVillage to research challenges in nursing education and workforce development. We led the design, testing, and iteration of their new AI offering, created an engaging and empowering UX, and developed a new brand identity for the platform’s launch.

IMPACT

In its first few months, the AI Coach engaged over 25,000 users across 70+ countries and in 10 languages.

Post - launch, 89% of users reported improved career readiness skills.

The AI activities for aspiring nurses have shown early success in addressing key challenges in education and career placement.

The redesigned brand and user experience enabled CareerVillage to capture more leads at industry events and boost efficiency in marketing and fundraising efforts.

The platform’s innovation has gained recognition from influential voices and media outlets across the technology, business and education sectors.

PROCESS

We aimed to understand the career discovery & development needs of aspiring and existing nurses as deeply as we could in the limited time - so we made the decision to go into interviews directly with sacrificial concepts.

After our preliminary platform audit, we had conversations with nurses, students, educators, and career advisors with our sacrificial prototypes.

We wanted dig deep into understanding why nursing has the highest turnover rates in healthcare.

The AI Coach visual design and UX were created to emphasize agency, personalization, and a long term growth model. We wanted to ensure that the users felt in control of their career exploration and can see their progression in the platform, and in their careers.

We designed the chat experience be gradual and intuitive, offering a structured-but-flexible approach aimed to reduce anxiety during critical career decision moments.

We created, prompt-engineered, and tested several nurse-specific activities. Through multiple testing rounds we ended up developing a scalable prompt - building methodology that the client can now use to expand the platform to other career fields.

FUTURE POSSIBILITIES

Thinking ahead, I would explore more possibilities in having a chat forward experience that was a mix of human career coaching and AI powered self exploration.
